Accuracy in print estimating is vital, it can make the difference between keeping a profit, by making sure all costing factors are accounted for, and the materials, processes & labor are specified in the correct quantity

Paper - Finding the paper involved, requires of few steps:
1) Finding out how many printed items can be printed out of a stock sheet, with both ROBO Print Job Manager & ROBO Digital Print Job Manager programs this is done automatically, please see the image below.
2) Find out also how many finished items can be obtained out of a printed item, again this is determined automatically.
3) Apply the formula (for each of the different run quantities) which includes the run, cost per 1000 sheets, wastage, no. out of stock sheet & no. out of printed sheet.
Guillotining - This would have to be the most complex calculation in print estimating:

Guillotining maybe required in two different stages:
Find the no. of cuts in the stock size/printed size process. The no. of internal cuts are dependent on whether single or double cuts are used.
With the guillotining process in step 1, the height of the pile of stock sheet needs to be determined.
Find the no. of cuts in the printed size/finished size process. Again single or double cuts maybe used on the internal cuts.
Once the thickness is determined, this needs to be compared against the maximum height the guillotining can handle.
The steps 1-3 need to be repeated, but for the printed size/finished size process.
The two processes need to be added together.
